About Us

In 1949, Art Baker and Howard Gardner purchased Fereday’s Plumbing Company, founded in 1930, and renamed it B and G Plumbing and Heating. Later in 1959, Howard bought Art Baker’s shares in the company, and the name remained unchanged. Howard had a love for the great outdoors; he enjoyed bowling, sponsored a bowling team, and even wrote poetry, some of which was published in *Do Consider*, a local magazine. He built B and G Plumbing alongside the Pocatello community, where he eventually retired in 1969, selling his shares and the company to his son Neil Gardner.

Neil was the type of man who worked to play, often venturing out camping and fishing, much like his father, Howard. The Gardners have strong ties to the Pocatello community and surrounding areas, which they often enjoyed as playgrounds for hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. B and G Plumbing and Heating Company has been part of the community for three generations. Neil loved his community and valued the friendships he made while being the owner and operator of B and G.

After the passing of the family patriarch in 1997, Neil’s family took over his shares, fighting to keep the memory of Howard and Neil and the legacy of B and G alive and well. Together, they have upheld the strong ties to Pocatello that their family established in 1949. In 2025, the fourth generation has started to step into the shoes of their great-grandfather Howard and grandfather Neil, continuing the connections with their community and remaining active within it.

B and G is more than just a plumbing company; it is a legacy that started in 1930 with Fereday and has continued with the Gardners in 1949. As we strive to uphold the legacy of B and G Plumbing in our community, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who has worked with us, forged friendships with us, and the future customers we will help along the way. Here at B and G Plumbing and Heating, we are more than just a plumbing company; we are a legacy, a family, and a staple in our community. Continuing the family name and the “work hard, play hard” mentality, we will serve our community for many years to come.
